A late-night driver who was seen swerving all over the road at an “excessively slow” speed was almost five times the legal drink-drive limit, a court has heard.
Malgorzata Rzeznik’s car was spotted crawling along the road by police who pulled her over and found her with slurred speech and blurry eyes.
Fiscal depute Sean Ambrose told Aberdeen Sheriff Court that Rzeznik’s red Honda Civic was spotted on CCTV being driven in an erratic manner along Union Grove and Willowbank Road.
Officers were then sent to trace and pull over the 44-year-old at around 11.40pm on March 17 this year.
Police noted odour of alcohol
“They noted that the vehicle was swerving across the carriageway and being driven excessively slow for the road conditions,” the fiscal said at a previous hearing.
“It was stopped and the accused was found to be the driver. Officers noted she had an odour of alcohol emitting from her, her speech was slurred and the condition of her eyes and demeanour indicated she was under the influence of some substance.”
Rzeznik was cautioned and arrested and taken to Kittybrewster Custody Suite.
She admitted driving with 108 microgrammes of alcohol per litre of blood, the legal limit being 22mcg.
‘The biggest mistake of her life’
Fiscal depute Debbie Ginniver told the court that her client had been drinking earlier in the evening but had eaten food and “foolishly” believed she would be fine to drive.
“Ms Rzeznik has shown significant remorse for her actions and has described it as the biggest mistake of her life,” Ms Ginniver said.
“She has never had so much as a speeding ticket before this.
“It’s highly unlikely that Ms Rzeznik will appear before the court again.”
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin fined Rzeznik, of Pentland Road, Aberdeen, a total of £1,040 and banned her from the roads for 16 months.
