A Lerwick man who drove a motorbike while almost twice the alcohol limit and without insurance while on bail is to be sentenced next week.
Mark Simon Rushby, 19, of 5 Ladies Drive, appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court yesterday after being arrested on Wednesday after driving the unregistered vehicle he bought a year ago.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said Rushby was spotted by police who stopped and breathalysed him after smelling alcohol on his breath.
Defence agent Tommy Allan said Rushby was taking the motorbike to a nearby car park and only drove it about the “quarter length of a football pitch”.
Honorary Sheriff Sandy Cluness deferred sentence until 27 May, granting Rushby bail but disqualifying from driving in the interim.
