The building, which houses the city’s sheriff court, is shut because of a power loss following the incident. The fire service went to the scene after an automatic alarm went off at 6.49am. They discovered a fire in the basement of the main building. Firefighters in breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to quickly extinguish the fire before ventilating the building. They also used a thermal imaging camera to check for any signs for fire spread. The last appliance left the scene at 10.05am. A fire service spokesman said that the fire is not being treated as deliberate. No one was injured as a result of the fire.
