A motorist caught more than four times over the drink-drive limit after watching the Scottish Cup final has been banned from driving for four years.
Keith Allison, 49, of Inchrorie, Fodderty, was stopped by police on Dingwall’s High Street on Saturday after watching Inverness Caledonian Thistle win the cup for the first time.
At Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday he admitted a single charge of drink driving.
Fiscal depute Michelle Molley said that police noticed Allison parked in the High Street just after 7pm on Saturday, May 30.
Ms Molley told the court that Allison had pulled up outside a takeaway and had gone inside to buy food.
She added: “When he was approached he was slurring his words and smelled strongly of alcohol.”
He was taken to Dingwall Police Station where he returned his positive sample.
Defence agent Patrick O’Dea told the court that Allison had been watching football at a pub and had “lost track of his drinking”.
He added: “He knew he had had a drink but not to that level.”
Sheriff David Hall banned Allison from driving for four years and ordered for his car to be seized.
He was also ordered to carry out 70 hours of unpaid work in the next three months.
