A man has been charged with launching homemade darts at members of the public in a north-east town-centre.
Christopher Murphy is alleged to have hit two women with the makeshift missiles in Peterhead’s Broad Street over two days in April.
The 20-year-old is accused of firing the darts at the women as they walked by a branch of Clydesdale Bank.
One woman was allegedly hit one on the finger and the other on the arm on April 21-22 this year.
Murphy, who lives in the town’s Longate, is also charged with attempting to hit a man with another homemade dart.
He denied the charges when he appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday.
Sheriff Andrew Miller released him on bail and told him to return for trial in November.
At the time of the attacks, police launched an appeal for witnesses.
Investigating officer Tom Allan said: “This was an unusual incident which has been upsetting for those involved.
“While it was fortunate no one was seriously injured they have been left extremely distressed. This was completely irresponsible and unacceptable behaviour and could have resulted in far worse consequences.”
