A serial shoplifter who stole more than £1,000 worth of goods from Moray supermarkets has been ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.
Kate Law, of 1 Braco Place, Banff, admitted targeting superstores in Keith and Elgin in March.
On March 9, the 25-year-old stole various foods, alcohol, a toaster, a kettle, clothes and a greeting card worth £320 from Tesco in Keith.
Three days later, on March 12, Law struck at Asda superstore on Edgar Road, in Elgin, and stole a further selection of food items, cosmetics, homewares, medicine and more clothes to the value of £311.68.
In both instances, police managed to fully recover all the stolen items.
Elgin Sheriff Court heard yesterday that Law also admitted five other charges of stealing goods to the value of almost £600 in March.
Solicitor James McKay told the court that Law’s situation had improved since then, thanks to her working with social workers and a rehabilitation group.
Sheriff David Hall said: “All in all, I’m dealing with eight charges of theft by shoplifting, but I’m glad to see you have taken up the offers of help being offered to you.
“What I’m going to do with you is impose a community payback order under supervision.”
Law was ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work sentence was deferred for her to be of good behaviour on five other charges.
