A man appeared in court in private yesterday in connection with a stabbing which took place in Oban at the weekend.
William Douglas, 32, from Alexandria, appeared from custody at Oban Sheriff Court.
Douglas is accused of assaulting a man in Breadalbane Street in the early hours of Friday morning by punching his head and striking his body with a knife, to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
He was also charged with having an offensive weapon, namely a knife, during the incident, and possession of cannabis in the town’s George Street.
It was alleged that these incidents took place while he was on bail.
Douglas made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination. He was remanded in custody.
