A man is to appear in court accused of illegally trapping an otter, which then died.
The case against David Bayley, 56, called at Oban Sheriff Court yesterday.
It was continued without plea until September 15.
Bayley, of the Glenforsa Hotel at Glenforsa on the Isle of Mull, is accused of deliberately or recklessly capturing the protected wild animal in the grounds of the hotel on January 12.
It is alleged that he set a double entry live catch trap.
Bayley also faces an alternative charge that he did possess or control a live and subsequently dead wild animal of a European protected species in that he discovered he had trapped the otter and left it in the trap.
