Two men have been arrested following a domestic abuse crackdown in Moray.
The pair, aged 27 and 19, were charged in relation to offences in Buckie and Forres and are due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today.
The two men were apprehended on Thursday as part of a campaign tackling domestic abuse across the region.
As part of the exercise, officers swooped on more than 25 addresses to carry out checks across the north-east.
Properties in the Banff and Buchan, Formartine, Garioch, Marr and Kincardine areas were also targeted.
Detective Inspector Neil Campbell said: “Domestic abuse covers a variety of behaviours and is not limited exclusively to physical abuse, it can include sexual abuse, emotional abuse and controlling behaviour.
“Most domestic abuse occurs in isolation in the confines of the home and routinely is not independently witnessed.
“But suffering behind closed doors should not, and cannot, be ignored. “We want to protect the victims and deal robustly with offenders.”
He added: “The message is clear that we will tackle all kinds of domestic abuse and that it will not be tolerated in any form.”
