A Nairn driver shouted menacing and offensive remarks at his estranged wife after learning a third party was involved in their break-up, a court heard.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard James Milne, 41, split with his wife of 11 years, Cindy, in July and was living at 23 Moss-side Road.
Fiscal depute Roderick Urquhart said he phoned 22 Sutors View, where Mrs Milne was staying, on October 3.
He added: “But she missed the call and saw there had been a number of calls from him. She phoned him back but was cut off. He thought she had hung up on him and phoned back.
“He was shouting at her that he would destroy her and made reference to another man, accusing her of being an adultress. She phoned the police.”
Milne appeared from custody and admitted abusive and threatening behaviour.
Defence lawyer Patrick O’Dea told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood: “Sadly his marriage broke up three months ago. At the weekend he learned that a third party was involved.
“He is ashamed of his conduct and apologises to his wife, for whom he still harbours feelings of affection. But they are not reciprocated and he has to move on.”
Milne was fined £300.
