A man who stalked his ex-partner and even planted a bugging device in her home has been given a non-harassment order.
Piotr Jakubiec was found guilty of making uninvited and unexpected visits to addresses in the Oban and Taynuilt areas where the women lived and worked.
The 42-year-old landscaper had gone as far as copying the key to her home and hiding a bugging device so he could listen in.
He stalked her between December 10 last year and January 7 this year.
At Oban Sheriff Court yesterday his behaviour was described as “extraordinary and frightening” by a sheriff.
Sheriff Ruth Anderson said: “This is worrying – this is quite extreme behaviour.
“This is a situation where they have not been living together as husband and wife for years yet he continues to behave like this.”
The sheriff told Jakubiec, of 12 Highland Apartments, Breadalbane Street, Oban, that the only reason he was not being jailed was that he was a first offender and working full-time.
But she warned him: “That does not mean to say that I might not do that in the future, but I am hoping you will now behave yourself and that you will step back from your previous relationship.
She deferred sentence for three months to allow Jakubiec to be of good behaviour.
Bail was granted on the conditions that he did not enter locations where his previous partner lives and works, and a non-harassment order was also imposed.
“This is a serious enough case to warrant a non-harassment order,” said the sheriff.
“This is not non-communication order, it is a non-harassment order.”
