Haider Ali is facing five charges in relation to the illicit sale of tobacco products at Nina’s shop in Fraserburgh’s Broad Street. Ali, whose address was also given as Nina’s at 67 Broad Street, appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday. He is charged with causing loss to Imperial Tobacco Ltd by having a pouch of tobacco falsely packaged as Golden Virginia. He is also charged with causing loss to Philip Morris International Management by having 5,799 cigarettes falsely packed as Marlboro. It is alleged Ali had 12,529 cigarettes which did not carry health warnings. The 40-year-old is also facing a charge of running an unregistered tobacco business from Nina’s shop on March 26. Ali pleaded not guilty to all charges. A co-accused – 35-year-old Karzam Bakir of 21 Dekan’s Garage, Denmark Street in Fraserburgh – has already pleaded not guilty to all five charges. The pair will return to court for trial in February.
