A 35 year old Inverness man attacked a pub customer because he thought he had punched him, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.
Albert Stewart was enjoying a night out with friends and family in a pub in Grant Street, Inverness when a female customer began challenging other people to fight.
Stewart, of 8 Gilbert Street was not involved but intervened to try and calm things down, his lawyer, Willie Young told Sheriff Margaret Neilson after his client admitted assault to injury on April 11.
“However she head-butted him three or four times and a full scale fight developed. He believes he was struck by someone else and kicked the man he thought was responsible.”
Stewart was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid community work and placed under social work supervision for a year.
