A man has admitted stealing thousands of pounds from an Aberdeen bed shop.
Peter Bain appeared at the city’s sheriff court yesterday and admitted breaking into Bedz 2 Go overnight on October 22 last year.
The court heard Bain smashed through a window at the store on Clair Street before searching through the office until he found the safe.
The 41-year-old then stole two cheque books, a mobile phone, a pay-in book, various cheques and £3,000 in cash.
The court heard staff at the showroom and warehouse only discovered the business had been targeted the following day.
Fiscal depute Anne MacDonald said Bain had committed the offence while on bail.
The court heard Bain, a prisoner at HMP Grampian, had previously struggled with drug problems and had a “fairly lengthy history” of previous convictions.
Defence agent Ian MacGregor said his client had previously cooperated with any community based disposals he had been given.
Sentence was deferred for the preparation of background reports.
