An Aberdeen dad has been banned from the roads after he got behind the wheel while nearly four times the drink-drive limit.
Virginijus Mazonas had been drinking brandy when he got a call from his wife to pick her up her work, as she was scared she was going to be attacked by the men outside.
The 45-year-old, of 77 Balnagask Circle, yesterday admitted the drink-driving charge, which happened on January 9 this year, when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
Defence agent Bob Anderson said his client – who is employed as a driver – has a history of problems with alcohol.
The court heard Mazonas had been on the way to pick up his wife when he was pulled over the by the police.
A breath test indicated he had 82 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 22mcgs.
Sheriff William Taylor disqualified Mazonas from driving for a year and fined him £300.
