A north-east woman appeared in court yesterday accused of cheating the Department of Work and Pensions out of more than £25,000.
Wheelchair-bound Janette Binnie denied the charge in Peterhead Sheriff Court and will now appear in the dock again in two weeks’ time.
Binnie, 48, of 33 The Corse, Crimond, is accused of failing to notify the DWP of a change in her circumstances that would have affected her entitlement to employment support allowance.
Between June 6, 2012, and January 27 this year, she received payments totalling £25,015.60 despite living with Allan Binnie, who was in remunerative employment.
Sheriff Andrew Miller set the date for her next appearance as February 25.
