A north woman has admitted a benefits fraud totalling thousands of pounds.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told Caroline Yavuz failed to tell the Department for Work and Pensions she had a lump sum of money which put her over the threshold for income support entitlement.
The 42-year-old admitted failing to tell the DWP about her change in circumstances between March 26, 2010 and January 31, 2014, during which time she claimed £8,766.81p.
The court heard that Yavuz, of 21 Hillpark Brae, had repaid more than £700 of the money through a direct debit.
But her agent, solicitor Graham Mann, told Sheriff Margaret Neilson the regular payment had been cancelled without her knowledge.
He added: “She was going through a separation at the time and there were certain things in her husband’s business arrangements that she was not aware of.
“What she was aware of was that there was money made available to her and she did not declare it.”
Sheriff Neilson deferred sentence until August 25 for an up-to-date repayment report.
