An Inverness man broke a woman’s nose after he was refused entry to a party.
Robin Clark admitted, on indictment, assaulting Amy Cartwright by punching her on the head and knocking her unconscious.
The 30-year-old, of 60 Torvean Avenue, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
Fiscal Roderick Uruqhart told the court that on May 9 last year, Amy Cartwright went for a night out in Inverness city centre with two friends.
While they were out, they met a man who appears to have been a mutual friend of both Clark and one of the young women.
Mr Urquhart added: “At about 3.30 a.m. the following morning, the original three young women took a taxi to 19 Kenneth Place, Smithton. Shortly thereafter the man they had met turned up along with Clark, one or two other men and another young woman.
“None of these people was known to the householder and consequently they were not welcome. The householder asked Ms Cartwright to ask them to leave, which she did.
“But Clark, who was described as the only aggressive person in the second group, was reluctant to go and started arguing and clenching his fists.
“The householder left the living room to phone for assistance from Ms Cartwright’s partner. But while the householder was out of the room, Ms Cartwright tried to push Clark out of the house.
“He then punched Ms Cartwright on the head, knocking her over and causing her to strike her head off a door before falling to the floor unconscious.”
Clark left with his companions and an ambulance was called.
Mr Urqhart said Ms Cartwright regained consciousness before the arrival of the ambulance and was taken to Raigmore Hospital where it was ascertained that her nose had been broken.
“A few days later she underwent an operation under general anaesthetic to manipulate and re-set the nose.”
Sherifff David Sutherland deferred sentence until April 12 for a background report.
