A man and a woman are due to appear in court today in connection with an incident which left a man with severe head injuries in Inverness.
The 52-year-old man was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in a serious but stable condition following the incident on Inverness’ Millburn Road on Sunday.
Police have confirmed that he was seen safe on Inglis Street, which links Academy Street and the High Street, at about 12.55am the same night.
He was found injured at about 1.20am on Sunday morning near the petrol station at Morrison’s supermarket, on Millburn Road.
He remains in a stable condition.
Police have confirmed that following “extensive inquiries” into the incident a 20-year-old man was charged with assault to severe injury and perverting the course of justice.
A 21-year-old woman was also arrested and charged with perverting the course of justice.
They will appear in Inverness Sheriff Court today.
A police statement added: “Police can confirm that a man and woman have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and are due to be appear at Inverness Sheriff Court today.
“Police would like to thank members of the public and the media for their assistance with this matter. The public response via social media was especially helpful to the investigation.
The 52 year-old man remains in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in a critical but stable condition.
