A man who already had a girlfriend became “besotted” by a supermarket assistant.
James Colquhoun stalked the young woman over a period of more than five months.
At Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday the 29-year-old admitted filming her on his mobile phone, staring at her, making sexual remarks and asking for her phone number.
The incidents happened between June 1 and November 16 last year.
Fiscal depute Michelle Molley told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood there had been no relationship between Colquhoun and his victim and she did not know him.
She said: “On June 1, she was at the checkout and saw him staring at her.
“He was looking up and down her body, which made her feel uncomfortable. He then made an inappropriate comment to her.
“Three months later, he saw her again and told her she should have been a model, while staring at her chest and saying ‘sure thing’.
“He then asked her for a date and her phone number, which was refused.
“On November 13, he entered the store again staring at her. She avoided eye contact with him, served him and he left.
“But he returned and took out his mobile phone and began filming her. She was distressed and reported it to her manager.
“Three days later, on November 16, he came back and took out his phone again. He was seen by the manager and removed from the premises.
“The police were called and he was traced later that night to his girlfriend’s house.”
Ms Molley asked for a two year non-harassment order to be imposed.
Sheriff Fleetwood asked defence agent Neil Wilson for an explanation for his client’s “bizarre behaviour”.
Mr Wilson replied: “He was besotted by the object of his unrequited desires. She worked in his local shop and he became infatuated with her.”
Sentence was deferred until May 19 for background reports.
