Police officers have seized £3,500 worth of heroin from a Moray home as part of a crusade to smash a drugs ring operating in the area.
Elgin woman Gemma Gray appeared at the town’s sheriff court yesterday on three allegations relating to the misuse drugs, and others of resisting arrest and behaving in a threatening manner.
The 30-year-old, who lives in Elgin, is accused of being involved in the supply of a controlled drug and faces two charges of drugs possession.
Officers discovered the drugs on Tuesday after executing a search warrant in the Manbeen Place area of Elgin.
Police launched Operation Witton to target dealers who have been selling Class A substances in the region.
They are aiming to oust a Merseyside-based drugs operation from the area, and have now arrested 18 people as part of the drive.
Officers have seized roughly £11,500 worth of drugs during that time.
Constable Michael Duncan said: “We continue to take action against drug dealing in the Moray, and this recovery has been made thanks to the continued support we receive from the public who provide valuable information about drug dealing activity.
“Operation Witton continues to run throughout the Moray area and we will respond to information provided to us by the community.
“Over the past few weeks approximately £11,500 of drugs has been recovered and 18 people have been reported or will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal. We are also providing support to people with addiction issues and referring them to support services.”
