A 24-year-old Dingwall man who failed to complete a community payback order and attend two previous court hearings was jailed for a total of six months at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
Robert Finnie, 35 Deas Avenue, appeared from custody and admitted all the charges.
His defence agent Claire Russell told the court that her client was on remand for another matter due to call at Lerwick next month.
She added that Finnie had failed to do any of the 100 hours of unpaid work he was ordered to carry out after pleading guilty to an assault on his girlfriend in Edinburgh on September 19, last year.
The two had been spending the night in Edinburgh, had an argument and he pushed her to the ground, fiscal depute Michelle Molley told the court.
Jailing him, Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood told Finnie: “We have done our best to keep you out of prison.”
