Two men accused of transporting £68,000 worth of cannabis into Moray have appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court.
James Gillies, 34, and 23-year old Conor McGregor were in the dock yesterday after being arrested earlier this week.
Both men’s addresses have been listed only as Moray, and neither made any plea when they went before Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov.
The men were remanded in custody, following a police operation on Tuesday evening.
Police recovered a massive stash of cannabis resin which was being ferried along the A95 at Marypark, between Aberlour and Ballindalloch.
Officers from the local CID, roads policing unit and violence reduction unit joined forces to plan the operation which led to the recovery of the class B substance.
Gillies faces charges of being concerned in the supply of drugs and drug possession. He is also accused of failing to stop his vehicle when asked to do so by a police officer.
After his court appearance, he was returned to custody.
McGregor faces one charge, of being involved in the supply of drugs, and was released on bail.
Both men are expected to return to the dock next Thursday, May 26, to issue a plea.
