A Moray man has been fined after assaulting two people in an Elgin nightclub.
Connor Maxtone, 21, punched two men in the early hours of the morning at Joanna’s on March 6 after they were “feeling up” his girlfriend.
Fiscal Kevin Corrins said Grant Cowe initially became aware of Maxtone after the pair bumped into each other on the dance floor.
Mr Corrins said: “He then felt the accused pull him back by the left shoulder and was thereafter punched to the right eye. He then struggled before he was punched again.”
Stewards subsequently moved in on the fight to separate the men.
After Maxtone was pointed out to staff at the nightclub by Michael Rose in the cloak room, the accused reacted by punching him twice in the face.
Maxtone, who was representing himself, explained he had been provoked because the two men were “feeling up” his girlfriend.
Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov said: “Provoked or not, you cannot take the law into your own hands.”
Maxtone, of 5 Neils View in Lhanbyrde, was fined £600 after admitting assaulting the two men.
