A rescued German shepherd dog had to be returned to the rescue centre after it bit a police officer on the bottom, a court heard.
David Crilley, 73, of West Pier House, Glenachulish, Ballachulish, yesterday pleaded guilty at Fort William Sheriff Court to owning the dog, which was dangerously out of control when it bit Ross McTaggart on the A828 Ballachulish to Connel road on January 5.
Fiscal depute Martine Eastwood said the officer had been assisting with a wide load when the dog jumped out of Crilley’s car and bit him.
She said his trousers were ripped and he suffered a minor laceration to the rear of his right thigh, which was cleaned and dressed at the hospital.
Sheriff William Taylor admonished Crilley after he told the court he had since returned the dog to the rescue centre it had come from.
