An Aberdeenshire couple who travelled to Inverness to “de-stress” ended up in police cells after a drunken disturbance outside a north guest house.
Fiona Hardie, a 44-year-old cleaner of 13k Auchinyell Terrace, Garthdee, and 45 year old builder Murdoch Fraser, 84 Brimmondside, Bucksburn, admitted a variety of charges when they appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
Fiscal depute Stewart MacIver told the court that a member of staff in the Ardross Street premises became concerned they were leaving without paying when the couple had an argument and were loading up their car.
Fiscal depute Stewart MacIver said: “Police were called and when Fraser was spoken to, he began swearing and then struggled violently with the two officers.
“Assistance had to be called but as Fraser was being restrained he punched PC Adam MacBean on the face and bit his ear. Hardie approached and tried to pull her partner free.
“Fraser then clawed the PC’s face several times and attempted to head butt him. Other officers arrived and Fraser continued to struggle as they got him in the van.
“At the cell block, Fraser began shouting at officers, claiming to be a member of the IRA and the officers would be shot dead.” Mr MacIver added.
Hardie was fined £400 and Fraser had sentence deferred until August 25 for a background report.
