A Moray-based soldier, who assaulted a policeman after being arrested, has been fined.
Jordan Baldwin, a sapper stationed in Kinloss, told officers not to walk away from him and swore at them after he was ejected from a bar in Elgin on June 19.
While in City Arms Close, the 26-year-old also turned his attention towards members of the public by shouting and swearing at them.
After warning Baldwin, officers intervened and arrested him, at which point the soldier accused the police of “ganging up on him”.
Defence solicitor Ian Maltman said that, at one point, his client had “three or four” officers on top of him.
He was subsequently taken to the police station where he continued to argue with officers.
Fiscal Alison Wylie said: “Still unhappy, and not particularly cooperative [while] moving towards the cell, he lunged towards sergeant Stuart Errington with a shoulder charge that caused him to fall against a wall.
“Clearly unhappy, he maintained that the handcuffs were cutting into him.”
Mr Maltman explained his client would also be disciplined by the army.
Baldwin, of Kinloss Barracks, admitted struggling with police officers and assaulting sergeant Errington when he appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court yesterday.
The 26-year-old was fined £650.
