A woman has denied stealing thousands of pounds from a viscount and the former face of Chanel.
Naomi Tamzin Barrett appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday and denied taking £25,000 from her employer CMG Events to go on a shopping spree across the north-east.
The company, which operates Crimonmogate House at Lonmay as a venue for business events and weddings, is run by Viscount Petersham, William Stanhope, and his ex-model wife Candida Bond.
Barrett is also accused of stealing from Viscount Petersham’s father Charles Stanhope, the 12th Earl of Harrington and one of the UK’s richest men, with an estimated wealth of £250million.
Her agent, solicitor Stewart Flowerdew, told the court yesterday that his client denied all the charges against her.
She will now stand trial on February 1.
Barrett is alleged to have used a CMG Events credit card to withdraw money from cash machines and buy goods and services from companies across the north-east.
She is accused of using it at Aberdeenshire Fireplaces in Mintlaw, Bliss Florist in Turriff, Meadowland Gallery and the Eastside Discount Centre – better known as the Spotty Bag Shop – in Banff and Aberdeen International Airport.
Barrett is also alleged to have embezzled money at The Square in Mintlaw, Turriff’s Main Street, Banff’s Low Street and Fraserburgh’s Broad Street.
The offences are alleged to have been committed between January last year and April.
The 52-year-old, whose address was given in court papers as 3 Tithe Barn, Branscombe, Devon, did not appear in court last month when her case first called because she was ill.
She left the court building yesterday wearing sunglasses and a large hat which covered her face.
