Members of the Extinction Rebellion activist group have “blockaded” Shell’s regional headquarters in Aberdeen.
Protesters said they have secured the entrances with locking equipment, and have blockaded the main gate with Extinction Rebellion’s boat, named Amal Gous.
The organisation said it intends to carry out the climate protest at the Tullos base “all day, with the aim of shutting the building down to disrupt business as usual”.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said they have been made aware and are monitoring the situation.
Exploration and production firm EnQuest has closed its offices in Aberdeen city centre today as climate change protesters descended on the Granite City.
A spokeswoman for EnQuest said the measure was a “precaution” to keep its employees safe.
