Garioch business lands award thanks to commitment to environment

An Aberdeenshire business has been recognised for its continuing commitment to the environment.
Élan Hair Design in Inverurie has been nominated in the ethical, CSR or green business of the year category at the FSB Business WorldPay Awards.
The Garioch-based firm uses recyclable materials, along with solar panels, to generate heat, electricity and lighting, which cuts electricity usage by 80%.
The hair and beauty salon is regarded as one of the most eco-friendly in the UK.
It has cut its carbon emissions by 94% in recent times and 95% of its general waste has been diverted from landfill.
Lorna Milton, director of Élan Hair Design, said: “We are delighted to have been nominated as a finalist for the FSB WorldPay Awards.
“These are prestigious awards and for Élan to be shortlisted is a fantastic achievement. It’s great credit to our team at the salon who work tremendously hard to make our eco-friendly business a success.”
The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, February 2 at the QE II Conference Centre in London.
