A woman has died after two cars collided on a Highland road.
An Audi V8 and a Toyota Auris were involved in the accident on the A835 Ullapool to Dingwall road, near Maryburgh.
Ambulance, police and fire and rescue services were all called to the scene just after 10.30pm.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police can confirm that following a two car collision on the A835 near Maryburgh, Ross-shire, sadly a 63 year-old woman died at the scene and two men were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with multiple injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
“The collision occurred around 10.30pm last night, just west of the Maryburgh roundabout and involved a Toyota Auris and an Audi V8. The woman was a passenger in the Audi, which was being driven by a 66 year-old man.
“The road was closed until around 7.15am this morning to allow an investigation to take place. Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to make contact via 101.
“Officers are liaising with the woman’s family and further details will be issued when next of kin are fully informed.”
