A total of 175 properties have lost power in Invergordon due to a fault at an electrical substation in the Easter Ross town.
Firefighters were called to Inverbreakie Industrial Estate this evening following reports of smoke rising from the substation building.
Two appliances from Invergordon and a foam unit from Inverness were called to the scene following the 999 call at 6pm.
A fire service spokeswoman said that smoke was coming from the 16ftx22ft substation and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to isolate a fixed insulation CO2 facility.
She added that no one was in danger as a result of the fault.
An SSE spokeswoman confirmed that a team of engineers arrived on scene at about 7pm and said that power is expected to be restored by 9pm.
She added: “We’d just like to reassure customers that engineers are on scene and would like to thank customers for their patience”.
