Two rescue operations were launched after canoeists ran into difficulty in the north.
Aberdeen Coastguard launched Buckie and Lossiemouth lifeboats at about 12.30pm after a man became separated from his friends while canoeing in the River Spey.
He had managed to reach safety by himself but was concerned his fellow canoeists would have raised the alarm with emergency services.
Just two hours later, the local lifeboat was launched after a man ran into difficulty in Loch Ness.
A passing vessel managed to rescue him.
Both canoeists are safe and well.
