Police have urged bikers to stay safe on the north’s roads after two motorcyclists were injured in separate accidents on the A82.
Two men were airlifted to hospital following the incidents on Wednesday, both having sustained serious injuries.
One was initially described as being in a life-threatening condition when he arrived at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
The crashes happened within a few miles of each other on the A82 Inverness to Fort William road near the shores of Loch Ness.
Inquiries into both collisions are ongoing by officers of the police trunk road patrol group based in Dingwall.
Now a senior officer has urged bikers to stay safe when they take to the roads.
Sergeant Angus Murray, of the road policing unit, said: “As the good weather continues, more and more motorcyclists are taking to the roads, police in the Highlands want to make sure that they do this safely.
“I would like to remind riders to keep yourself safe and consider the devastating consequences being involved in a crash would have on your family and friends.
“We want riders to enjoy their time when riding in the Highlands, however, more importantly we want them to make it home safely.”
The first collision on Wednesday happened at around 11.10am, approximately three miles south of Drumnadrochit.
The 55-year-old motorcyclist was thrown from his bike after being involved in a collision with a Citroen Picasso.
He ended up down an embankment and had to be rescued by firefighters before being airlifted to Raigmore by a coastguard helicopter.
He was initially described as being in a life-threatening condition but yesterday a police spokesman confirmed that his condition had improved, although he had suffered multiple serious injuries.
The second crash happened about 2.15pm about two miles south of Invermoriston.
The incident involved a single motorcyclist and the 29-year-old man was airlifted to Raigmore by air ambulance.
He was also described as having suffered serious injuries, understood to be to his chest.
