Lochaber residents have helped Highland Council award grants totalling £30,000 to 27 local clubs, groups and projects.
The system, known as participatory budgeting, proved successful when it was piloted in the area last year.
And Lochaber councillors made another £30,000 available for distribution in the same way this year.
The council received 71 eligible bids, which were put online and local people were invited to vote for the projects they wanted to receive funding.
Just under 2,000 people voted and the successful entrants received grants ranging from £1,500 to £50.
The £1,500 grants went to Acharacle school support group, Mallaig High School’s S4-S6 pupil trip to London, Active 8 NW Lochaber remote schools transport project, Kinlochleven’s Secret Garden, Kinlochlovin’ social enterprise company and High Life Highland as a contribution towards the purchase of a disabled persons’ swimming pool access ladder.
Other recipients of £1,500 were Lochaber Cinema Group towards equipment and licensing fees, Fort William Football Club youth development towards all-weather jackets, Lochaber Leisure swimming club to buy starting blocks, Lochaber Phoenix Boxing Club towards equipment and The Tuesday Club as a contribution towards transport for the over 60s club.
