A bomb squad has carried out a second controlled explosion on a World War II device on Nairnshire beach within the space of a week.
The device was detonated at 10.15am by the Royal Navy’s ordnance explosives Northern Diving Group this morning on Culbin Beach, located between Nairn and Findhorn.
The decades-old barrage rocket was found by two members of Nairn Coastguard who were carrying out a monthly patrol in the area yesterday morning.
Last Friday, another World War II device was discovered on East Beach at Nairn by a walker, and the same team of experts also dealt with this the following day.
