North lifeboat volunteers have been kept busy this morning after three crews were called out to separate incidents.
Lochinver lifeboat was launched to assist a broken down fishing vessel about a mile out from the Sutherland village at about 11am.
The sole crewman on board the 32ft vessel raised the alarm with the coastguard after the boat’s engine failed.
A coastguard spokesman said that the crew member was not in any danger and that the lifeboat crew are now in the process of towing the vessel back to Lochinver harbour.
Just 10 minutes earlier, Tobermory lifeboat was launched after receiving an alert about a 58-year-old man who had taken ill on board the CalMac MV Isle of Lewis ferry.
The vessel, which was on the Oban-Castlebay run, diverted into Tobermory bay to enable the lifeboat crew to transfer the man ashore for medical care.
The coastguard spokesman said that the incident was not being treated as serious.
Earlier this morning, at about 4am, Oban lifeboat was also launched to transfer an elderly patient in need of medical assistance from Mull to hospital in Oban.
