A man has died after falling tragically from the north face of Ben Nevis.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident by the man’s climbing companion  at around 6pm on Friday evening.
Personnel from Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, assisted by RAF Mountain Rescue Team, attended the scene with rescue helicopter R951 to uplift the men from the hill.
One of the men, who was in his fifties and from outwith the area, died as a result of his injuries. The other was unharmed.
Officers are currently liaising with the man’s next of kin.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Members of the Mountain Rescue Teams are thanked for their courageous efforts during the rescue, carried out in dark and difficult conditions.”
