Time to get your gloves and woolly hats looked out – the first real snowfall has officially arrived.
Officials at the Cairngorms National Park shared this wintry-looking scene on their official Facebook page earlier today, to the delight of thousands of social media users.
The picture has now been ‘liked’ more than 2,000 times and attracted hundreds of comments from revellers excited at the prospect of a white winter ahead.
Damien Goodman commented: “Winter is coming. This is by far the best thing I’ve seen so far today!”
While Sarah Davies described the picture as a “stunning view” and Stuart Low said: “Can’t wait! Love it!”
Earlier this month, the Press and Journal revealed how the first few flakes of snow had begun to fall on the summit of the Cairn Gorm, near Aviemore.
While that flurry of the white stuff may not have lasted long, it looks as if this latest snowfall has been considerably more substantial and definitely constitutes our first real dusting of snow this autumn.
