A scale model show and food and craft fair held at the Black Isle Showground has raised more than £6,000 for a cancer charity.

The organisers Claire and Andrew Cameron were overwhelmed with people’s generosity to the Marie Curie Curie Cancer Care and cannot believe they superseded last year’s total of £5000.

The event, held on Saturday, was again extremely well attended with a great variety of stalls for all ages and stages.

Mrs Cameron, a Marie Curie nurse, said: “We are overwhelmed by the success of this event, who knew everyone loves models so much! We had so much fun in the run up and on the day we look forward to expanding the show for next year to incorporate more collectables.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along on the day, to everyone who helped set up and organise the showground, to all who donated raffle and auction prizes, and to the Mid Ross Fundraising Group and volunteers for helping on the day.”

Leigh Ann Cassie, community fundraiser, said: “What an amazing event this was and I cannot thank Claire and Andrew enough for their efforts in putting it all together for the second year running.

“It was a fantastic day and had so many different stalls for people to see and browse. Everyone was extremely generous with donations on the door, buying raffle tickets and buying items in the auction.

“Thank you to everyone for their support, the money raised will support our local nursing service which offers vital care and emotional support to people living with a terminal illness, at home.”

To access a Marie Curie nurse speak to your GP or district nurse in the first instance.
