Italian sadomasochist Stefano Brizzi has been found guilty at the Old Bailey of the murder of 59-year-old Constable Gordon Semple.
The 50-year-old had already admitted obstructing a coroner by dismembering the body and trying to dissolve it in an acid bath, after being inspired by the TV drama Breaking Bad.
He was today found guilty murdering constable Semple, at his flat on the Peabody Estate in south London on April 1.
The Italian IT developer had denied murder and told jurors that the officer died during a sex game when a dog leash he was wearing slipped.
The prosecution said it would have taken minutes rather than moments for constable Semple to die from strangulation.
Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC sent the Old Bailey jury out last Monday and they returned their verdict today.
