Police were called to Halkirk, Caithness, at around 8.50am after the collision on the A9, at its juntion with the B874 Halkirk road. The road was closed and a 40 mile diversion was put in place. A police spokesman said the man is in his 50s and has been airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness in a serious condition. “The male and female drivers of the other vehicles are not seriously injured,” he added. The road has now been reopened following the crash. Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to an officer to make contact via 101
