A Perthshire castle has announced it is to feature in this year’s Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas, the popular Channel 4 craft programme presented by Kirstie Allsopp.
Filming for the show, which is due to be screened on December 7 at 8pm, took place this weekend at Blair Castle.
Around twenty crew made their way to the Castle for a two day shoot, taking in many of the Castle’s main rooms and public areas.
The filming was specially arranged to coincide with a Craft Fayre held every year at the Castle, the Exclusively Highlands fayre, which attracts both fellow crafters and those looking for Christmas gift ideas.
The Castle team arranged accommodation for the crew, as well as Kirstie herself, in Old Blair, one of the estate’s Highland Lodges, which is situated close to the Castle itself.
It also provides the location for one of the craft items on the show – Kirstie making a cosy dog jacket which could be given as a Christmas gift to a dog owner.
Scott Robertson, Head of Tourism and Business Development at Blair Castle, said: “We were absolutely delighted to be told we were being selected as a location for this popular TV programme, which for many people starts to get them in the Christmas mood, especially as regards having a go at making their own handmade gifts.
“Kirstie and her crew certainly came to the right place as not only will our atmospheric Castle look amazing on screen but this area has a tremendous heritage for homemade crafts.”
