Two Highland schools have been forced to close today leaving hundreds of pupils at stuck home.
Nairn Academy has closed its doors until further notice after an “extensive leak” caused damage to the school’s electrics and flooded the canteen.
A message on the school’s Facebook page says parents will be updated once the level of damage and repair has been assessed.
A spokeswoman for the school said: “I’m afraid we have to close Nairn Academy today due to an extensive leak in the school which is affecting the electrics.
“We are waiting to get that assessed and will update further later today.”
Meanwhile, Charleston Academy in Inverness was also forced to inform parents that school had been cancelled due to a heating failure.
The school confirmed that all pupils would have to make alternative arrangements but did not say when the school will be open again.
A spokesman said: “Charleston Academy is closed today due to a partial heating failure.
“It is closed to all pupils due to the heating problem.
“We will update parents and guardians when we know how this situation will evolve.”
