An 85-year-old is in “serious condition” after a crash on the A9.
Emergency crews were called to the scene near Alness at around 4.30pm yesterday, including three fire crews from Invergordon and Dingwall.
The road was closed locally for several hours while police, fire and ambulance teams assisted the man.
Local diversions were put in place with the road opening again around 11.15pm.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said last night that one “elderly male” had been trapped and was freed by firefighters using cutting equipment to remove the roof of his vehicle.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said the man was taken to Raigmore Hospital with “significant leg injuries” and another casualty was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A spokesman for Police Scotland added: “As part of ongoing enquiries anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already been in touch with officers is urged to contact Police on 101 .”
