Woman flown to hospital after her 4×4 hit a tree in Highland village

A woman is being flown to hospital in Inverness after her 4×4 vehicle hit a tree near Thurso.
The accident took place on the A836 at Harbour Road, Castletown, at 2.50pm.
Police, fire and ambulance services attended.
A spokesman for the ambulance said: “A woman in her twenties was freed from the vehicle by the fire service. She is being treated by paramedics for spinal and chest injuries.
“The patient was conveyed by ambulance to Wick Airport where they rendezvoused with the air ambulance. She is now being transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for further treatment to serious injuries.”
A police spokeswoman said she did not believe the injuries to be life threatening.
