A Skye charity worker has said she was “stunned” when she was told she would be given a British Empire Medal.
Marjory Jagger, who is the manager of Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers, said she hoped the award would help raise the profile of the charity.
Despite having founded and worked for the organisation that supports young carers for 16 years, Mrs Jagger said she had “no idea” the honour was coming.
The 58-year-old said: “I was stunned.
“I just had no idea it was coming. I really appreciate the fact that people had gone through the process to put me forward.
“If it helps raise the profile of the work we do, that is the most important thing.”
Mrs Jagger has been given the BEM for services to young people and the community in the Inner Hebrides.
Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers supports approximately 60 youngsters aged between five and 18, who are caring for someone who has a significant physical or mental illness or disability.
