Police Scotland have made a fresh appeal for information after a man was found lying in the street with serious head injuries on New Year’s Eve.
Officers say the injuries were the result of a serious assault that took place in the early hours of the morning.
The man was found shortly before 2am by a member of the public on the pavement at the junction of Craigton Avenue and Bridgeview Drive, Inverness.
The man, aged in his mid 20s, appeared to have been beaten up and was bleeding heavily from numerous wounds to his face and neck which appear to have been caused by a weapon.
He was treated in hospital but will be left permanent injuries as a result of the attack.
Police believe the injured man had been in the area of Kessock Road prior to being assaulted.
Officers are carrying out house to house enquiries in the area to find witnesses to this incident.
