Firefighters tackling Ross-shire combine harvester and bale fire

Crews consisting of about 20 firefighters are tackling a blaze involving a combine harvester and around 200 bales of straw in Ross-shire.

Three appliances, a water carrier and a welfare unit are at the scene at Pitcalnie near Nigg.

A fire service spokeswoman said there was no indication that the flames had spread or that anyone had to be evacuated from the farm.

A relief crew has now been called in and are expected to be there for the remainder of tonight.
