Plans for a shake-up of care home services in the north coast of Sutherland are poised to be approved next week.
The move would mean NHS Highland no longer providing residential care home services currently offered at Caladh Sona near Melness, and Melvich Community Care Unit.
A new facility would instead be created to deliver the services.
Health board members will be told at a meeting next week that a majority of 263 people who completed a survey as part of the public consultation were in favour of the change.
Asked for their views on locations for the proposed new facility, 64% were in favour of the Kyle of Tongue area, followed by Bettyhill with 20%.
Gill McVicar, director of operations for NHS Highland’s north and west operational unit, said: “This has been a comprehensive consultation and I am very pleased with the level of engagement and feedback we have had.
“It is clear that people really value the service provided from both care homes but many recognise the challenge to sustain services particularly in relation to staffing.”
If the board accepts the recommendation to develop a community “hub” facility, planning for the new facilities and services would begin in the coming months.
